Traves D. Crabtree, MD
Traves D. Crabtree, MD, is a thoracic surgeon and an Professor of surgery at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, in 1991 and his medical degree from Southern Illinois University in 1995. He completed a general surgery residency and surgical infectious disease research fellowship at the University of Virginia, then came to Washington University to complete his medical training with a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship. He was a faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis from 2004-2016, then became Professor of Surgery at SIU School of Medicine from 2016-present. He is currently the Medical Director of the Surgical Simulation Laboratory within the Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation.
Dr. Crabtree has been listed in Best Doctors in America 2011-2017 and has published roughly 150 scientific papers. His areas of clinical interest are general thoracic surgery, minimally invasive lung cancer surgery, video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, VATS, esophageal cancer surgery, mediastinal surgery and pleural disease.
